    Problems with synchronization

    Hello,

I have a problem with synchronization with an external USB device. When I initiate a synchronization, it stops several times with a dialog box saying

    "Item not found"

    Could not find this item.

This is no longer located in c:\blah blah blah\blah.mp3. Verify the item's location and try again.

If I choose "Cancel" I can proceed with the synchronization, but obviously it isn't as automated as I would like it to be. It is quite correct that the file in the message does not exist, but I am not sure why HappyFish thinks it should. I would assume that at some point a synchronization or a download failed and did not clean up correctly. I've had this problem once before, and the only way I found to resolve it was to reinstall HappyFish. Is there a less drastic way to get rid of the error message?

    Thanks,

    Mårten

    Marten,

Sorry you're having trouble.  I guess you're right about the file being missing due to a failed download, although there would likely at least be a partial file there.  Still, HF keeps track of partial vs complete downloads and does not try to sync partials/incomplete ones.  If HF is trying to sync a file it is because it thinks it was downloaded successfully and is on hand.  Have you deleted any files out of the download directory manually?  If so, HF will not know they're not there.  Rather than reinstalling HF, you can delete the feed items that are causing a problem.  If prompted, indicate that you do not want to keep any enclosure files.  Then you can immediately right-click on the feed and choose "Recover Deleted Items".  That should put the items back in the feed item list.  Then you can select them, right-click, and choose "Get Enclosures" to try the downloads again.

I hope this helps.  Let me know if you need more details.

    Regards,

    Will

Thanks - this solved the problem! I still don't understand why the files went missing in the first place, but that's OK.
