Despite my best efforts to move forward with a new release of HappyFish I have not been able to get it out the door.  HappyFish is a side project for me and as such comes after my work obligations and family.  I genuinely wanted to release a new feature-rich bug-free version, but I have to admit that I don’t have time for it.  If I get a few moments over the summer I’ll continue to tinker with it, but officially I’m suspending development.  I will leave this site up for downloading of the current release.  I will also leave the forum up for community interaction.  Most of the bugs in the current release are documented in some fashion in the forum.  Thank you to all the HappyFishers who have made this project so fun and rewarding.

That really sucks. HF is definitely the most feature-rich and deeply configurable podcast manager I've found. :(

wow that really does suck. i'm with eric. trying to find a decent podcatcher was next to impossible. HF was the closest thing to nirvana. =D ok, well hope there's some time found in there for maybe 1 more release. ;-)

Indeed this is sad news, I use HF to download from about 80 science and technology feeds and the thought of setting them up and trying to re-synchronise in iTunes is not a happy one. One thing is for sure iTunes doesnt do as good a job as HF so I won't be doing it anytime soon, maybe next winter here in the UK. Anyway, many thanks for creating such a great application that does such a great job. Only bug that gave me any problems is that some feeds do not seem to work in it, they are few and far between however and I suspect that its the originating site that is misbehaving. Heck I dont want to use iTunes so I'm not going to change unless HF breaks completely. Long live Happy Fish!

Is there any chance of opening up the source for all us geeks to tinker with? Thanks for making such a great program.

I agree with the others. Sad indeed. I do understand the need to focus on family and those obligations that actually pay the bills. I truly hope the summer opens up for you to forge ahead with the project. It really is the best one out there.

Very bad news. HappyFish is the only reasonable choice when it comes to Windows podcatching. Hope it will become open source and someone will take over.

I agree with the previous posters. As far as I am concerned, HappyFish is the ONLY option that I have been able to find so far for managing podcast downloads. Itunes is rubbish... Winamp doesn't download properly.... Juice is crap.... I would love to see this project continue on in some form or another, perhaps through the open source route??

Currently the last version of HappyFish is running well, even on Windows Vista 64. However, I would really appreciate if there was any chance that development of HappyFish continues. I agree with other posters that releasing it as open source would be a good option.

I would be glad if you could at least answer if you think about releasing it as open source and if so if you will. Because if it's only a matter of I-don't-know-how-to-do-that-and-am-too-occupied-to-find-out (I know how many projects fail because of that ;) ) I'm sure if you say so someone will be there to do it for you (you could just put a code package as a download.

Let me also encourage you to release it as open source. Not only will it surely speed up the coding process but also make your software more secure. If you don't want to lose control over the project be assured that everybody will gladly listen to you when it comes to developing new ideas/features. See it as if you had your own business and your employees work for free and you will only have to check in now and then and suggest your ideas.

Let us hear what you think about it please!

I am considering a source code release. That seems the most reasonable course.

Just chipping in with all the others: 1) It's a great program. The only real choice out there and well done. 2) It sucks that you don't have time for it; a new release would be great. 3) Open Source would be a great option.

... it's very sad news to hear that the development will stop. Looking forward to a source code release.
Thanks alot for the effort you invested in this project. Long live the HF ! :)
